Akihiko Sugiura completed an MS course at Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology in 1990 and became an Research Associate at Dept. of Control Information Engineering, Toyota Technological Institute. Presently, he was an Associate Professor of Dept. of Knowledge-based Information Engineering, Toyohashi University of Technology. And now, he is a Professor of Graduate School of Science and Technology Shizuoka University. He obtained a Doctor of Engineering from University of Tokyo in 1997.　He has been engaged in research on image measurement, image applications, high efficiency coding, spread spectrum communication, code division multiplex access, digital broadcasting system, and ITS base technology. He is a member of IEEE and Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan, Image Information and Television Engineers.
